Hanoi Train Street is one of the places most visitors to Hanoi make time for. A thousand-year-old capital that still runs on plastic stools, motorbike horns and the smell of charcoal — and the natural first stop for the north.
Before you go: Access is periodically closed by the authorities on safety grounds and enforcement varies month to month. Treat it as a maybe, never as a fixed item on a schedule, and follow whatever the residents tell you.
