About Cuc Phuong National Park

Vietnam's first national park, established in 1962, covering primary limestone rainforest about 45km from Ninh Binh city. It houses the Endangered Primate Rescue Centre and a turtle conservation programme, both of which can be visited on a guided schedule.

Cuc Phuong National Park is one of the places most visitors to Ninh Binh make time for. Ha Long Bay's limestone towers, but standing in rice fields instead of the sea — and only 90 minutes from Hanoi.

Before you go: The rescue centres run on fixed visiting times, so check before setting off. April and May bring the butterfly season, when the access road fills with them.
