Trang An Landscape Complex is one of the places most visitors to Ninh Binh make time for. Ha Long Bay's limestone towers, but standing in rice fields instead of the sea — and only 90 minutes from Hanoi.
Before you go: Route 1 is the classic and the busiest; route 3 is quieter. Boats leave when full, so arriving before 9am or after 2pm avoids the wait. Tipping the oarswoman at the end is customary.
