Lac Village is one of the places most visitors to Mai Chau make time for. A flat green valley of Thai stilt villages three hours from Hanoi — the easiest overnight escape from the city.
Before you go: Rooms are usually a mattress on a communal upper floor; private rooms exist and cost a little more. Bargain politely at the textile stalls, which expect it.
