About Ti Top Island

A small island with a crescent of beach and a staircase of about 400 steps to a summit pavilion. The view from the top — karsts scattered to the horizon with boats threading between them — is the standard image of the bay.

Ti Top Island is one of the places most visitors to Ha Long Bay make time for. Around 1,600 limestone islands in the Gulf of Tonkin, seen properly only from a boat that stays out overnight.

Before you go: The steps are steep and there is no shade. Go up first and swim afterwards, not the other way round.
