About Ham Rong Mountain

A landscaped hill directly above Sapa town, laid out with orchid gardens, rock formations and a series of terraces climbing to a viewpoint over the valley and, on a clear day, Fansipan opposite. It is the fallback when the weather rules out a longer walk.

Ham Rong Mountain is one of the places most visitors to Sapa make time for. Terraced valleys under the Hoang Lien Son range, and the easiest place in Vietnam to spend two days walking between highland villages.

Before you go: The climb is all steps and takes about forty minutes at a steady pace. Late afternoon gives the best light over the valley.
