About My Khe Beach

The city beach: a long, broad, gently shelving stretch of pale sand backed by a promenade of cafes and hotels, running from the Han river mouth south towards Hoi An. Clean, well maintained, patrolled in season and genuinely used by residents.

My Khe Beach is one of the places most visitors to Da Nang make time for. Central Vietnam's gateway city: thirty kilometres of beach, a mountain pass at each end, and the only international airport between Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City.

Before you go: Locals swim at dawn and again after five, and avoid the middle of the day entirely — follow them. The sea gets rough and is often closed to swimmers between October and December.
